This post is a long time coming!! Last week was a pretty crazy week for us. One of the exciting things that happened was, Pila got his citizenship!! His Neutralization ceremony was on Tuesday morning in LA and we were really hoping to take the kids and be there for him on this special day but the kids had their California State tests that they couldn't miss and Pila had to be there by 7:55 am so there was no way to take them to school and then leave for LA to get there in time. After the ceremony he called me and told me he was so glad we didn't come, he said there was 5,000 people taking the oath today, so add that 5,000 to another five to seven thousand of their relatives and it was a complete MADHOUSE!! He thought for sure one of the kids would have gotten lost if I would have had to handle all 5 by myself and I probably would have gone insane!! (and I'm sure he's right!!)
Now we're really excited to file the necessary papers for his parents, brothers, and sister so that they can come live over here someday. He also has to be a citizen in order to do his medical residency program. (which isn't for 2 more years, but we've needed to get this done for a long time)
The other exciting thing that happened this week was this sweet little girl turned 1 month old!! (aren't those chunky cheeks so cute?!!)
She looks so big in that last picture but really, she still seems so small. She now weighs 10 lbs 4 ounces, and as you can tell she loves to eat, anytime her eyes are open she thinks she has to eat!! This past month has definitely been crazy for us but we wouldn't give her up for anything. Meilani loves to listen to music, she loves being held, bath time, and is starting to love her bouncy chair. She doesn't love binkies (much to my dismay), being cold, wet or dirty diapers, and when nobody pays attention to her.
Unfortunately, sometimes a certain 2 year old likes to give her a little too much attention and then she doesn't get any sleep during the day. Sometimes I have to "hide" her, today it was under the table while I folded laundry:)
On to the reasons why this post is so late.....I got sick on Wednesday night, with the terrible nursing mother's disease and had a really bad fever, headaches, and I pretty much didn't get off the couch until Sunday. Then Pila got sick Saturday morning and was really sick that day, Sunday, and is still trying to recover. The problem with this is, he had his last 2 finals today. So Ofeina got plenty of time to play mom and take care of her brothers (and baby). She got really good at pouring sippy cups, helping Mana go potty, making cinnamon toast, and frozen Totino's pizza. Now we are playing catch-up and trying to get our house and lives back in order!!

Congrats to Pila on getting his citizenship! I'm in the process of helping Ova's mom, Tea get hers....but I just found out that her greencard needs to be renewed first....how long did the whole process take for you guys?
Your baby has the cutest chubby cheeks! They grow too fast don't they! She's so cute!
Hope your household gets better soon...it's no fun being sick! That's awesome that Ofeina was there to step up to the plate! Love you guys!
