Catching Up

Have you ever noticed how hard it is to get caught up on your blog when you're a few weeks behind? Not to mention that this is the 2nd time I've written this post, I got almost completely done with it the first time and my phone froze!! Anyways……

We had a few weeks off of Zulily events, which has been soooo needed. I was able to get caught up on all of our wholesale and Etsy orders, and we even got a new wholesaler. We have changed things up with LittleVMen a little bit lately, our sales have gotten a little crazy and there was no way I (and my 2-3 sewers) could keep up, so we have hired 4 more ladies and I'm hoping that we can stay more on top or things, without me having to sew 10-12 hour days and being pretty much absent from my kid's lives.
Our next solo event will be coming up on November 6th and we are adding not only shirts, but maxi skirts, more headbands, and skinny harem pants to the mix. Wish us luck!!!

Now for a little non LittleVMen news:) A few weeks ago Pila's hand started hurting him….right hand, index finger knuckle area.  It got really swollen, very painful, and really red.

Which are obvious signs of infection, the same thing happens to the top of his foot a few times a year, so we thought he could use the same treatment plan, as he does with that, and that it would eventually go away.  It just got worse and I kept telling him that he needed to get it looked at, but since he's an employee of the VA he would have to be a veteran in order to get it looked at at the hospital that he works at. He was on his way to do surgery last Friday and decided he's better get it looked at, so he swallowed quite a bit of pride and went to the ER. They immediately admitted him and were hoping it wasn't sepsis (infection) in the joint. He eventually had to get surgery the next day in order to make sure  that there wasn't any infection in the joint….just a basic incision and washout type of thing, but the anesthesia really took a toll on him and made him quite sick. (it turned out to be just a soft tissue infection and he has been on some pretty heavy duty antibiotics trying to clear it up) Unfortunately nobody under the age of 13 was allowed in the hospital, so there was a lot of running back and forth between him and the kids. Luckily for me the hospital was only about 8-10 minutes away, and Ofeina is a wonderful babysitter:)

No, his finger didn't get cut off....looks like it though:)
Ami helping him change his dressings:)

Pila is in an infectious disease rotation
right now so we were worried that this infection might be work related, but after replaying past events and time lines I think he has narrowed it down as to how he got this infection, and lets just say he will now be wearing heavy duty gloves whenever he works outside or with animals, he has had many people over the past week emphasize to him how important his hands are and as the doctor he is working with right told him "you can be a podiatrist with no feet, but I  have never seen a podiatrist with only 1 working hand"
