Part 2 of the story....and here's where it gets a bit much (but I wanted to "remember" the story in its entirety:))
That night I had pretty much resigned myself that I wouldn't have the baby until after we got home from California. We went to bed and around 2:00am I woke up feeling a gush. I hobbled to the bathroom and thought my water had broken, when I turned on the light I saw that it was blood that had gushed out. My water has never broken on it's own, but I remembered from all of my previous kids the doctor saying "it's clear" so I knew this probably wasn't a good thing. I was passing a lot of blood and big clots, I woke up Pila and told him it was time to go to the hospital. I ran upstairs to change and wake up my mom, and we headed to the hospital, luckily the hospital is only about 8 minutes from our house, and with me bleeding like that I'm sure we made it in a lot less time than that.
We got to the triage part of the hospital and while they were getting things ready for me, my flip flops were filling up with blood (I did have a towel with me), my mom and Pila were quite antsy, and I was just anxious to get the monitors on me so that I could make sure the baby was ok.
I was at a 4 1/2 when I got there and about a half hour I was at a 6. Right off I told them I wanted an epidural, and by the time I was at a 6 I needed it really bad. The anesthesiologist was really great, she came in and gave it to me. It didn't work right away and she came back in and gave me a little bit stronger dose through my IV since I was progressing so fast.
My doctor wasn't on call that day so when the new doctor came in he told me that the next time he checked me (which was about an hour later, and the baby's heart rate kept going down after every contraction) that if I wasn't at a 9 or 10 when he checked me I would have to go in for an emergency c-section. Luckily I was at a 9 and we were prepping for a natural delivery. I started pushing and it was the weirdest feeling ever, I felt like I could have literally fallen asleep while pushing. I was sooo weak and tired, I was fighting myself to stay awake. The doctor used the forceps and luckily the baby was born after a few pushes, and he was fine. (He was born at 4:44 am) Once again I could have fallen asleep after he was born, and was fighting to stay awake while they were cleaning him up. He was grunting a little and they said his lungs were sounding a little wet, so they brought him to me for some skin to skin contact. The whole time I thought I was just extremely tired from lack of sleep and being awake in the middle of the night, but afterwards I realized I was about to pass out from lack of blood. It turned out to be placenta abruption.
Our handsome little guy was here, we named him Isileli Tekamanu Ha'angana Vakautakakala (Izzy for short) he weighed 6 lbs 14 ounces and was 20 inches long.

Jamie! That's so scary! So glad you are both ok though. Go super mom!
This is Jolyn btw :)
Oh my heck!! As I'm reading, that was my thought, that you were about to lose consciousness from blood loss! I am so glad you were at the hospital and in good hands. Thank goodness you had a quick labor, too.
